To provide support, advocacy, life skills, and exceptional counseling services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people in the South Florida community through services that reflect and support independence, dignity, choice, and privacy.
In The SAILS Institute, LGBTQ young people will learn to maintain basic life skills and integrate their LGBTQ identity through strength-based counseling. The counseling and education provided in the program will focus on protecting against risk factors, developing life skills, and taking care of physical and mental health. We will aid the young people in identifying positive resources and sources of support in their families and communities, and will incorporate those resources into the transitional process for the young people. We offer a supportive environment that will foster the learning of these skills and the positive integration of these young people into the larger community.
